0101- Accommodation and Tenancy

NDIS accommodation and tenancy assistance support individuals in finding and securing appropriate housing. This includes those individuals that are renting or living in public or community housing. Individuals are guided through the process of finding housing accommodation, identifying any potential issues and finding solutions.

0102- Assistance/Access/Maintain Employment/Education

This assistance helps individuals with disabilities to achieve their career goals. This support aids participants in securing and maintaining employment and working towards promotions and skill development. Examples of support include resume writing assistance and interviewing skills.

 0103 - Assist Prod-Personal Care/Safety

This group refers to assistance that provides safety and comfort equipment for individuals with disabilities and/or special needs. Examples of support may include consumables and/or home modifications that support the individual to have a comfortable and secure environment. A range of products may be provided, including specialised clothing, pressure mattresses or adult diapers.

Required qualification: Where applicable: Relevant product knowledge and experience working with people with disability.

 

0104- Assistance - Personal Activities – High Intensity

The assistance provided for this registration group is intended for clients with high-level support needs. This may involve a carer staying at an individual’s home to offer high-intensity assistance, such as cleaning, bathing and dressing.

Required qualification: Must be a registered or enrolled nurse OR appropriately trained staff. 


 

0105- Personal Mobility Equipment

Personal mobility equipment refers to products and accessories that assist individuals with disabilities and/or special needs in a mobility and/or transport capacity. Such support may include walking aids, wheelchairs, and transfer aids.

0106- Assistance - Life Stage - Transition

This group refers to short- and long-term assistance that develops an individual’s ability to access and coordinate their own individual support. The intention behind this support is to help individuals maintain their independence at home whilst remaining active participants in their local community.

 NDIS Modules and Registration Groups Quick Guide

 

0107- Assistance - Personal Activities

The assistance provided for this registration group is intended to support individuals with disabilities and/or special needs to undertake their day-to-day personal activities. This may include tasks such as helping with personal hygiene, taking care of general cleaning duties, cooking nutritious meals, and mobility assistance. Independence and autonomy are also encouraged where possible, so that an individual can transition to completing these tasks on their own over time.

0108 – Assistance - Travel/Transport

This assistance is aimed at supporting individuals whose disability makes it difficult for them to access transport. Assistance includes the provision of appropriate transportation methods such as taxis, ride-shares, community vehicles etc. Depending on the level of support required, a support worker may accompany an individual during transport to assist them where necessary.

Required qualification: Drivers Licence – relevant to vehicle (e.g. bus, standard car)

0109 – Vehicle Modifications

Vehicle modifications refer to any changes made to a vehicle that allow for safe travel. Changes are specific to the limitations on the ability of an individual depending on their disability and/or special needs. Examples of vehicle modification include wheelchair access modifications, hand acceleration/braking control, spinner knobs, walking rails and pedal extensions.

Required qualification: Engineer - Must hold current licence or registration in the relevant State or Territory. Experience modifying vehicles to comply with Australian Design Rules, Australian Standards & State Engineering Certification & Registration requirements. Mechanic - Must hold current licence or registration in the relevant State or Territory. Experience modifying vehicles to comply with Australian Design Rules and Standards.

 

0110- Behaviour Support

This assistance is aimed at supporting individuals will specific behavioural needs. Behaviour support involves identifying harmful behaviours and implementing strategies that are specifically tailored to an individual’s needs. Behaviour support applies people-centred interventions to preserve the dignity and quality of life for each individual. The intention of this support is to manage or reduce the occurrence of behaviours that may cause concern while minimising the use of restrictive practices.

0111 – Home Modifications

Home modifications refer to any changes made to a home to allow an individual to live a safe and more independent life within their home. Such modifications may include grab rails, space for wheelchair manoeuvres, handheld shower heads etc.

Required qualification: Occupational Therapist - Current AHPRA Registration and experience & understanding of concepts & limitations of AS 1428 & other disability access standards & their application in accordance with a person’s needs & specifications of plans.  Builders/trades Must hold current licence or registration in the relevant State or Territory.

 

0112- Assistive Equipment - Recreation

This assistance involves the provision of recreational equipment. Equipment includes items used in both competitive and non-competitive sports and recreational pursuits.

Required qualification: Where applicable: Relevant product knowledge and experience working with people with disability.

 

0113- Vision Equipment

This assistance involves the provision of equipment necessary for an individual with vision-related needs to support their navigation and orientation. Equipment may include braille products, guide dogs, magnifiers and note-taking equipment.

0114- Community Nursing Care

This assistance involves providing care, training, and supervision of workers who can respond to the complex care needs of an individual. Nurses will provide tailored support and care in response to the specific needs and plan of each individual.

Required qualification: Registered/Enrolled Nurse - Current AHPRA Registration and experience in the profession and evidence of involvement in clinical supervision and professional development as required by the appropriate professional body.

 

0115- Daily Tasks/Shared Living

This assistance involves the provision of short and long-term assistance with daily tasks in a shared living environment such as units or host family arrangements. The focus of this support is on developing the skills of each individual to live as independently and autonomously as possible.

0116- Innovative Community Participation

The assistance provided for this registration group is intended to support individuals to participate in community programs to promote inclusivity and employability. These programs differ depending on the support level required for each individual. The focus of this support is on building resilience, well-being, and personal growth to assist individuals to feel more connected to the wider community.

Required qualification: NA

 

0117- Development - Life Skills

This assistance focuses on providing individuals with training and development of daily living and life skills. The intention behind this support is to help individuals to live independently, whilst still participating in community activities. The training provided may include activities such as personal hygiene rituals, shopping and cooking, completing household chores, riding public transport and modern problem solving skills.

Required qualification: NA

 

0118- Early Childhood Support

Early childhood support helps children (younger than 7 years of age) with a disability or developmental delay, and their families. The assistance is aimed at facilitating greater inclusion in community and everyday settings, to ensure each child can access communities to grow and learn in.

Required qualification: ECEI usually goes hand in hand with therapuetic Supports so there is an expectation the provider has the qualifications listed in therapuetic Supports. 

 

0119- Specialised Hearing Services

The Specialised Hearing Services registration group provides the delivery of specialist hearing services to individuals with profound hearing loss and/or an implantable device or additional communication needs. Support is provided by qualified audiologists.

Required qualification: Where applicable: Relevant product knowledge and experience working with people with disability.

 

0120- Household Tasks

This assistance involves the provision of support with daily household tasks, including Supported Independent Living (SIL). Support may include tasks related to the home, cleaning, laundry, food preparation, and yard activities that an individual is not able to perform on their own.

Required qualification: NA

 

0121- Interpret/Translate

This assistance involves the provision of support for individuals from non-English speaking backgrounds to access the appropriate language interpreting and translating services. These services are delivered by businesses such as the TIS and QITS both face to face and via telephone. This support is intended to allow individuals to communicate clearly and reduce/eliminate confusion or misunderstanding.

Required qualification: Interpreter/Translator - Certified or Recognised Practising Interpreter or Translator with the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters Ltd. Experience working with people with disability

 

0122- Hearing Equipment

This assistance involves the provision of hearing equipment support to individuals with profound hearing loss and/or an implantable device or additional communication needs. Support includes funding for hearing equipment and may also include support with maintenance and repair costs and assessments.

Required qualification: Where applicable: Relevant product knowledge and experience working with people with disability.

 

0123- Assistive Products - Household Tasks

This assistance involves the provision of assistive products for completing household tasks. This support may include specialised aids and equipment that help an individual with cooking, cleaning, washing, and home maintenance. Examples of other items that may be included are alarms, doorbells, adapted clocks, and programmable memory aids.

Required qualification: Where applicable: Relevant product knowledge and experience working with people with disability.

 

0124- Communication/Information Equipment

This assistance involves the provision of products or technologies that provide alternative communication methods for an individual. Equipment may be required to facilitate spoken or written communication. The intention for this support is to assist individuals living with disabilities to build their capacity for communication, improve their confidence and increase their independence.

Required qualification: Where applicable: Relevant product knowledge and experience working with people with disability.

 

0125- Participate in Community

This assistance is aimed at supporting individuals to be more involved in the community, particularly social and recreational activities. Community participation is vital for maintaining general health and wellbeing. Support may include support workers accompanying an individual to a range of different activities such as shopping, sporting activities, holidays, cinema or zoo visits etc.

Required qualification: NA

 

0126- Exercise/Physical Personal Training

This assistance is aimed at supporting individuals to access physical wellbeing activities. These activities may range from one-on-one personal training, group training activities, advice regarding exercise and other supports in regard to the specific disability and physical health goals for an individual.

Required qualification: Personal Trainer - Personal training qualification, Certificate III, IV or Diploma in Fitness or equivalent.  Exercise Physiologist - Accredited exercise physiologist with Exercise and Sports Science Australia.

 

0127- Plan Management

Plan management assistance helps individuals to manage their support plans, maintain their records and engage with different providers, among other administrative tasks. It can also involve supporting individuals to manage the finances/funding of their supports to live and plan their life more independently.

Required qualification: Accountant / Bookkeeper - Membership with Association of Taxation and Management Accountants (ATMA), Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), Association of Certified Bookkeepers (CBK), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Australia Bookkeepers Association Limited (ABAL), CPA Australia (CPA), Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB), Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) or Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CAANZ) or equivalent.

 

0128 – Therapeutic Supports

This assistance involves the provision of services from therapists, allied health professionals and individual and group counselling to improve and maintain the health of an individual. This may also include community engagement supports to empower participants in being more social and managing decision making in their lives.

Required qualification: Developmental Educator, Dietitian, Exercise Physiologist ,Music Therapis, Occupational Therapist,  Orthoptist , Physiotherapist , Podiatrist , Psychologist , Rehabilitation Counsellor, Social Worker, Speech Pathologist

 

0129- Specialised Driver Training

Specialised driver training is specific to assisting drivers with disabilities and/or special needs. Specialised driving instructors can range from allied health assistants and occupational therapists with advanced training in driver assessments and rehabilitation. Trainers create training programs for individuals based on an assessment of their capabilities to facilitate their capacity to drive.

Required qualification: Must be a licenced driving instructor with experience in providing training to people with disability and in the use of adapted vehicles.

 

0130- Assistance Animals

The NDIS describes an assistance animal as one that is ‘trained to perform at least three tasks or behaviours that reduce the functional impacts of a person’s impairment and is assessed by an authorised body for public access.’ This support involves the provision of an assistance animal to an individual. All assistance animals must pass a public access test before being approved by the NDIS.

0131- Specialised Disability Accommodation

Specialist disability accommodation (SDA) refers to a range of housing designed for people with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. SDA homes possess special features that support residents to live more independently and allow for supports to be delivered more effectively. Any SDA funding is paid directly to an SDA provider to cover any building and maintenance costs to facilitate accessible housing for individuals.

0132- Support Coordination

Specialist Support Coordinators are expected to negotiate appropriate support solutions with multiple stakeholders and seek to achieve well-coordinated plan implementation. Specialist Support Coordinators will assist stakeholders with resolving points of crisis for participants, assist to ensure a consistent delivery of service and access to relevant supports during crisis situations. Specialist Support Coordination is generally delivered through an intensive and time limited period necessitated by the participant’s immediate and significant barriers to plan implementation. Depending on individual circumstances, a Specialist Support Coordinator may also design a complex service plan that focusses on how all the stakeholders in a participant’s life will interact to resolve barriers and promote appropriate plan implementation. Once developed, a Specialist Support Coordinator will continue to monitor the plan, but it may be maintained by one of the participant’s support workers or other care supports.

Required qualification: Mental Health Nurse. Specialist Support Coordination is expected to address complex barriers

 

0133 – Specialised Support - Employment

This assistance involves employment services for individuals with a disability who are not able to work without support. Individuals may already have employment however are less independent in performing their work tasks or need coaching to support their capacity to complete their work.

Required qualification: NA

 

0134 – Hearing Services

For individuals whose hearing impairment is equal to or greater than 65 decibels, the NDIS provide an assessment to better understand the impairment and how it may impact their ability to carry out tasks, and whether these impacts are likely to be short or long term.

0135 – Custom Prosthetics

Custom prosthetics are classified as Level 3 or 4 under the NDIS complexity level classification. This support is designed to support an individual that requires professional assessment for a custom prosthetic.

Required qualification: Occupational Therapist, Orthotist/Prosthetis, Pedorthotist, Physiotherapist , Podiatrist.

 

0136 – Group/Centre Activities

This assistance involves supporting an individual to access recreational activities such as camping, arts or drama classes, sporting events, or group trips to the movies or museum. The intention for this support is to facilitate friendship building and social skills.
